Description
AMS 5759 Round Bars / Haynes 25 / UNS R30605 / CarTech L-605 / Udimet L605 / Alloy 25
AMS 5759 Round Bars is the AMS (Aerospace Material Specification) for Cobalt Alloy L605, a High-Strength, Heat-Resistant, Cobalt based Superalloy used for high-temperature applications in Aerospace and other industries, known for excellent strength up to 1500°F (816°C), superior oxidation/sulfidation resistance, and good formability. It’s available in forms like bars, forgings, and rings, with a composition of Cobalt, Chromium, Tungsten, Nickel, and other elements.
AMS 5759 / Alloy L605 is a cobalt-chromium-tungsten-nickel alloy. It has good formability, high strength to 1500°F (816°C), and good oxidation resistance up to 1800°F (980°C). This material also has good sulfidation resistance and is well known for resistance to wear and galling. Alloy L605 / 25 is used in applications requiring moderate strength and good oxidation resistance at high temperatures. Alloy L605 / 25 is non-magnetic, and the high chromium content provides resistance to corrosion in a wide range of environments such as marine, hydrochloric and nitric acids, and wet chlorine.
Thanks to its biocompatibility and non-magnetic nature, AMS 5759 can also be used in the medical industry for manufacturing of heart valves and other stent applications.
Haynes 25 / HS25 / Alloy 25 is a cobalt-based alloy which combines good formability and excellent high-temperature properties. At 1800°F, Alloy 25 sheet has a 100 hour stress-rupture strength of 7000 psi. The alloy is resistant to oxidation and carburization to 1900°F. Alloy 25 has given good service in many jet engine parts. Some of these include turbine blades, combustion chambers, afterburner parts, and turbine rings. The alloy has also been used successfully in a variety of industrial furnace applications including furnace muffles and liners in critical spots in high temperature kilns.
