Description
EN52 Round Bars / BS 401S45 / IS X45Cr9Si3 / EN X45CrSi9-3 / EN 1.4718
EN52 Round Bars is a high-strength spring steel round bar used for applications requiring a combination of strength, hardness, toughness and resistance to repeated loading. EN52 steel is commonly associated with spring and valve-related engineering applications where reliable mechanical performance is important.
Textron Steel and Alloys supplies EN52 Round Bars in different diameters, lengths and surface conditions to meet the requirements of engineering, automotive, machinery and industrial manufacturers. EN52 round bars can be supplied in black, bright, peeled, ground or machined conditions depending on size and application requirements.
BS 970 EN52 is also equivalent / known as BS 401S45, IS X45Cr9Si3, EN X45CrSi9-3, EN 1.4718 under different standards.
The material can be supplied according to applicable specifications and customer requirements, with inspection documentation and testing available where required.

What Is EN52 Round Bar?
EN52 Round Bar is a spring steel round bar intended for demanding mechanical applications. Its combination of strength and elastic properties makes it suitable for components exposed to repeated loads, vibration and mechanical stress.
The round-bar form allows EN52 steel to be used directly for machining, forging and manufacturing of cylindrical components. Depending on the customer’s requirements, EN52 round bars can be supplied in hot-rolled, forged, bright or machined conditions.
The grade is particularly relevant to applications where components must retain their mechanical performance under repeated loading and elevated operating conditions.
