Description
ER2209 Filler Wire TIG / ER2209 Filler Wire MIG
ER2209 Filler Wire is a duplex stainless steel filler metal used for TIG, MIG, and sub-arc welding of 22% chromium alloys like UNS S31803 and S32205 (such as Grade 2205).
Alloy ER 2209 is designed to weld duplex stainless steels such as 2205 (UNS Number N31803). High tensile strength and improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting characterize the welds of this wire. This wire is lower in ferrite compared to that of base metal in order to obtain improved weldability.
ER2209/1.4462 is a duplex stainless steel filler metal designed for welding austenitic-ferritic stainless steel alloys containing approximately 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum. It exhibits high tensile strength, resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and improved weldability compared to the base metal.
One of the principal applications of ER2209 welding wire is joining Duplex 2205 stainless steel. Duplex 2205 combines austenitic and ferritic phases, providing high strength and resistance to localized and stress corrosion. ER2209 is formulated specifically for welding 22% chromium duplex stainless steels such as UNS S31803 and S32205.
The additional nickel and nitrogen in ER2209 help support the desired duplex weld-metal structure during welding and cooling.
ER2209 TIG filler rod is widely used for GTAW/TIG welding of Duplex 2205 components. TIG filler rods are available in different diameters according to application and welding procedure. Manufacturer data commonly lists sizes around 1.6 mm, 2.4 mm, 3.2 mm and 4.0 mm, subject to availability.
ER2209 TIG rods are suitable for applications where controlled heat input, precise welding and high-quality weld appearance are important.
ER2209 MIG wire is used for GMAW/MIG welding of duplex stainless steel. It is commonly supplied in spool forms and is available in diameters such as 0.8 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.2 mm and 1.6 mm, depending on the manufacturer and application.
ER2209 MIG wire provides a productive welding solution for fabrication and industrial applications involving Duplex 2205 stainless steel.
